Beyond Sex Appeal: Finding God-Defined Beauty In A World That Celebrates Movies Like “Anora.”

As I was watching the sexual activity in the movie Anora, I felt like I was watching porn. I’m not sure what I expected—it IS about a sex worker who stumbles into a modern-day Cinderella story—but I found myself fast-forwarding through most of it, wondering how it managed to win multiple awards this year.

And then it hit me: Sex sells. Nudity sells. And our world celebrates that—especially when it’s wrapped in the label of a “liberated woman.”

But here’s the thing: we are so much more than our bodies, our curves (or lack thereof), or what we can offer sexually.

Messages like that shaped how I saw myself as a woman—and if I’m honest, they still try to. But what happens when our bodies change? When we age? When our skin softens, stretches, or wrinkles? Are we still beautiful then?

Yes. Yes, we are.

Because beauty was never meant to be defined by society, youth, or sexual appeal—it was always meant to be defined by God.

He didn’t make a mistake when He made us. Every part of us was crafted with purpose and intention—including our bodies.

So today, when you look in the mirror and start focusing on your flaws or watch movies like Anora and start comparing yourself, 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭.

𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐇𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧—not because it fits the world’s standards, but because you were fearfully and wonderfully made.

What helps you hold onto God’s definition of beauty when the world constantly tries to redefine it?
